Bulldogs Close Out Kiawah Island Classic with Strong Third Round

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – UNC Asheville's women's golf team completed play at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic, Tuesday, finishing in 46th place out of 53 teams.
The Bulldogs entered the day at 46th, but shaved 15 stroked off of their collective score from the second round, finishing with a 316 on the final day. It is the fourth-lowest score for a round the Bulldogs have posted this season.
Adelyn Deery finished as the Bulldogs' top individual performer, as she ranked tied for 170th in the field of more than 260 competitors with a three-day score 238. She had the low round of the day for Asheville, posting a 5-over 77 at the par-72 Oak Point Golf Club. She carded a birdie on the par-5 fourth hole, giving her seven birdies for the tournament to lead Bulldogs.
Baylee Evans posted her best round of the tournament with a 6-over 78 in the third round. She birdied the par-4 fifth hole, which dropped her to 1-over for her round at the time. She concluded the event in a tie for 206th on the individual leaderboard with a score of 243.
Kellen Alsip finished the tournament as the Bulldog's second-lowest scorer with a three-round total of 240, which put her in a tie for 187th. She led the Bulldogs on the day with two birdies during her round, scoring fours on the par-5 fourth and 12th holes.
Linna Brooks posted a 241 overall score for the tournament, finishing just behind Alsip. She carded an 80 during the final round of competition, just missing out on a sub-80 round with a bogey on her final hole.
The Bulldogs return to action next week when they travel to Hawaii to compete in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, March 10-11.
