Bulldogs Dominate the 400 Meter in Day Two of Buccaneer Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, TENN. – UNC Asheville's track and field team completed day two of the Buccaneer Invitational with a first place finish in both the men's and women's 400 meter runs.
The Bulldogs claimed the top four places in the men's 400 meter. Tyree McFalling won the event with a time of 49.50 while Isaac Teasley finished second with a time of 49.93. Bryson Riddick and Joel Bowers finished third and fourth in the event with times of 50.08 and 50.24, respectively.
Desire Brown claimed the first place spot in the women's 400 meter with a time of 58.32. Raven Thurman finished fourth in the event with a time of 1:01.08.
The Bulldogs saw three finish in the top 10 in the men's one mile run with freshman Walker Lezotte leading the way with a fourth place finish with a time of 4:33.08. Brock Newsome earned a sixth place finish with a time of 4:35.27 while Nathaniel Edwards finished in the ninth place spot with a time of 4:37.40.
Victor Mathuthu and Isaac Teasley both finished top eight in the men's triple jump. Mathuthu earned a seventh place finish with a jump of 13.92 meters while Teasley was a spot behind him with a jump of 13.66 meters.
Dominique Partridge finished fifth in the men's shot put with a throw of 14.80 meters while Solomon McDonald finished in the sixth place spot with a throw of 14.46 meters.
In the women's triple jump, Kathryn Brown finished fifth with a jump of 11.31 meters and Claudia Prieto finished sixth with a jump of 11.24 meters.
Akin Williams finished fifth in the men's 60 meters with a time of 7.01.
UNC Asheville just missed on the top spot in the women's 4x400 relay as the quartet of Raven Thurman, Desire Brown, Khadeesha Crumbly and Ava Nkadi finished second with a time of 3:55.64. Their time was just a second behind the first place team.
The Bulldogs also earned a second place finish in the men's 4x400 relay as Joel Bowers, Tyree McFalling, Bryson Riddick and Isaac Teasley finished with a time of 3:18.53.
UNC Asheville track and field will compete again at the VMI Indoor Classic, February 14-15, in Lexington, Va.
