DAY TWO RESULTS
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The UNC Asheville Swimming & Diving team continued its trend of setting new program-bests on the second day of the TYR '85 Liberty Invitational. Overall, the Bulldogs set one new school record and had two freshman records fall to go along with several season-best performances from multiple swimmers.
The morning session set the bar high for the Bulldogs. Every event saw multiple Asheville student-athletes log season-best marks. Delaney Carlton was the lone Bulldog to set a lifetime best mark during the morning clocking in at 1:53.63 in the 200-yard freestyle.
When the teams returned to the pool in the evening, the Bulldogs got off to a quick start in the individual events as Addison Wright broke the freshman record in the 100-yard fly. Wright's record-breaking time of 56.24 was nearly two full seconds faster than what she swam in the prelims.
"I'm having a blast and am so proud of how everyone is competing," said Wright. "Go Bulldogs!"
The records were not done falling as freshman Jade Canady broke the school and freshman records in 3-meter diving with a total of 192.60. Canady now holds the school and freshman records in both 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
"I am really proud of everyone and how well we did this weekend," Canady said. "I could not have done it without the support of the team. I look forward to finishing strong tomorrow!"
With two days in the books, Campbell still holds the team leaderboard with 1,923 points. UNC Asheville sits a spot behind with 1,689 points with Liberty next up with 1,353 points.
Asheville will wrap up not only the Invitational but also the 2020 portion of its schedule on Sunday. Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. with the finals closing out the weekend beginning at 5 p.m. Results can be tracked via the Meet Mobile app and the live results link.
