Bulldog Men Take First Place at Thundering Herd Invitational

Final Results
HUNTINGTON, W. VA. – UNC Asheville's men's track and field team claimed the first place spot in the two-day Marshall Thundering Herd Invitational with 155 points. The second place team scored only 118 points throughout the meet.
The Bulldog women earned a fifth place finish with 45 points.
Men's
In the men's 60 meter dash, the Bulldogs claimed the top three spots with Akin Williams finishing first with a time of 6.96 while Denley Joseph earned a second place finish with a time of 7.09. Victor Mathuthu was right there with his teammates as he finished third with a time of 7.15.
Williams and Joseph also finished third and fourth in the men's 200 meter dash as Williams ran a time of 22.61 and Joseph finished with a time of 22.68.
Four Bulldogs earned points in the 400 meter dash with senior Tyree McFalling leading the way with a third place finish with a time of 49.02. The four through six place finishes were occupied by three Bulldog freshman: Joel Bowers (49.07), Bryson Riddick (49.38) and Isaac Teasley (49.62).
Nicholas Teta finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:53.96 while Jacob Starace finished in fifth place with a time of 1:56.45. Alex Haines finished in seventh place with a time of 2:00.99.
John Ciprich claimed a fourth place finish in the men's 3000 meter run with a time of 8:43.03. Nick Roberts finished third in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.62.
UNC Asheville took the first place spot in the 4x400 relay as the quartet of Joel Bowers, Tyree McFalling, Bryson Riddick and Isaac Teasley finshed with a time that was five seconds faster than any other team of 3:18.66.
Isaac Teasley finished second in the long jump with a jump of 6.63 meters. Nick Roberts finished fourth in the event with a time of 6.60 meters while Victor Mathuthu finished fifth with a jump of 6.56 meters. Mathuthu also finished fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 14.05 meters.
Joshua Tyler Ortiz earned the first place spot in the men's shot put while his teammate Solomon McDonald finished third with a throw of 14.60 meters. Dominique Partridge and Jack Choiniere earned the fourth and fifth place finishes with throws of 14.24 meters and 14.07 meters, respectively.
Women's
In the women's 60 meter dash, Claudia Prieto finished fourth with a time of 7.79. Raven Thurman earned an eighth place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.11.
Alyx Evans earned the fourth overall spot in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:18.19. She was less than four seconds off of the first place finisher.
Madeline Nichols finished eighth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:29.05.
The Bulldogs claimed a fourth place finish 4x40 relay with Raven Thurman, Desire Brown, Alyx Evans and Ava Nkadi finishing with a time of 4:00.46.
Claudia Prieto finished second in the women's long jump with a jump of 5.37 meters. Kathryn Brown finished sixth in the event with a jump of 5.31 meters.
