Bulldogs Post 3.205 GPA During Fall Semester

ASHEVILLE – UNC Asheville student-athletes put together another standout performance in the classroom during the fall 2019 semester, posting a 3.205 cumulative grade-point average as a department.

Of the 236 student-athletes enrolled in the fall semester, 158 (67 percent) were Athletic Honor Roll Recipients, completing the semester with at least a 3.0 GPA. Seventy-four of those student-athletes earned Dean's List recognition with GPAs of 3.50-3.99, while another 24 student-athletes earned distinction on the Chancellor's List with 4.0 GPAs.

Thirteen of UNC Asheville's 16 programs earned a team GPA of 3.0 or greater. Women's soccer took the top spot for the department, finishing with a 3.655 team GPA, while men's soccer earned the highest team GPA among men's sports with a 3.148.

Other teams that earned at least a 3.0 GPA were volleyball (3.488), women's golf (3.444), swimming and diving (3.405), women's tennis (3.400), women's cross country (3.350), women's track and field (3.206), men's tennis (3.108) men's track and field (3.103) and men's cross country (3.043).

Volleyball senior Carter Kennedy was the lone athletics graduate during winter commencement, earning a Bachelor of Arts in New Media, completing her coursework with a cumulative GPA of 3.975.

"I am so proud of the exceptional work our student-athletes continue to put forth in the classroom each semester," Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone said. "Our vision is always to develop Champions in Athletics and Leaders in Life, and our student-athletes take that to heart and strive to be top students at UNC Asheville.

"Not only do our Bulldogs compete at the highest level athletically, but they consistently show they are setting themselves up for bright futures."
