The Bulldog Alumni Career Conversations Begin With a Bang!
09.23.2019 | Athletics News
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The first ever UNC Asheville Career Conversations was held, Thursday, September 19, inside the Sherrill Center. The Career Conversations was the idea of Assistant Director of Athletic Advancement & Alumni Engagement, Dan Freeman, and Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Success, Rebecca Nelms.
The event was a play on the normal career panel, but brought in the aspect of intimate and engaging small group conversations that would offer the student-athletes more insight and control of the situation. There were 15 athlete-alumni put into five different classrooms that were rooted in five general career paths for current student-athletes to take advantage of.
"We wanted a way to empower the student-athletes to ask anything they had been wondering, in the career path room they had chosen," Assistant Director of Athletic Advancement & Alumni Engagement, Dan Freeman said. "We were able to diversify the group of alumni, to allow the student-athletes to see themselves in the alumni they were speaking with. We want them to see those careers and more, as reality."
"We'd like to thank Assured Partners, our Career Conversations sponsor, as well as Arby's for providing lunch and the DoubleTree Biltmore for supplying their delicious cookies!"
