‘Leaders for Leaders Powered by Elk Mountain Wealth Partners’ Kicks Off 2019-20 Athletic Year

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville's "Leaders for Leaders powered by Elk Mountain Wealth Partners" program kicked off the 2019-20 athletic year with a luncheon Thursday afternoon.
The program is unique in that it pairs a UNC Asheville student-athlete with a community member in a mentoring relationship. Since the program's inception five years ago, the mentorship program has provided countless benefits to the student-athletes, mentors and surrounding community, including multiple job placements, successful grants for community programs, industry connections and meaningful relationships.
"The 'Leaders for Leaders powered by the Elk Mountain Wealth Partners' mentoring program provides our student-athletes with an opportunity to begin preparing for their future career aspirations today," Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone said. "We are so thankful for the over 60 community and business leaders who mentor our Bulldogs and help them become 'Champions and Leaders in Life'."
This year there are 70 pairs of mentors and mentees participating in the program.
The kickoff luncheon paired student-athletes with their mentor for the upcoming year.
