Women’s Basketball Announces First Three Nonconference Opponents

08.26.2019 | Women's Basketball

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Over the last week, UNC Asheville women's basketball head coach Brenda Kirkpatrick Brown has announced the first three nonconference opponents the Bulldogs will face in the 2019-20 season via social media.

The Bulldogs finished the 2018-19 season with 17 wins, making it four consecutive years that UNC Asheville has accumulated 17 or more wins. The Bulldogs have also made a postseason appearance in four straight years. The Bulldogs Academic Top 25 GPA recognition for the 2018-19 season makes UNC Asheville one of nine schools to receive that award in two of the last three years and to play in four straight postseasons.

Everything you need to know about the Bulldogs' first three games of the season is below:

Wednesday, November 13 versus Lenoir-Rhyne (6 PM)
The Bulldogs will open their season inside Kimmel Arena for the first time since the 2014-15 season. This will be the first meeting between the Bulldogs and the Bears. Lenoir-Rhyne is a member of the South Atlantic Conference in NCAA Division II. The Bears finished last season with a 17-13 record and fell in the semifinal round of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament to Anderson University.

Once again the Bulldogs and the Catamounts will keep the tradition of the mountain rivalry alive as these two programs have faced off every year except one since 1979. The Bulldogs have won three out of the last four matchups against the Catamounts including last year's 74-49 victory inside Kimmel Arena.
