ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Asheville City Soccer Club captain, Molly Dwyer, has joined the UNC Asheville women's soccer program as an assistant coach. The move was announced by head coach Clifton Bush on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.

"In the time Molly has been here she has already shown extreme value to our squad," Bush said. "Molly adds an energy and understanding that the players are really responding to. Her experiences, and championship quality, allow her to guide our student athletes to reach another level of excellence. Molly brings such a diverse soccer background to our team but communicates with a local touch. I rely on her perspective time and again when making decisions and her advise has been sharp and insightful. We are all fortunate to have Molly join us and look forward to watching her coaching career grow."

Dwyer, a Knoxville, Tenn. native, spent the 2019 season as the captain for the Asheville City Soccer Club (ACSC). She joined ACSC in their inaugural 2018 season and led their offense to a 10-1 season scoring 10 goals. They were unanimously named Club of the Year and Dwyer was named Carolina Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

"I'm very thankful and excited for this great opportunity here at UNC Asheville," said Dwyer." I cannot wait to hopefully make a difference and share what I have learned throughout my playing career"

Dwyer was the team leading scorer in 2016 and 2017 and Furman's 2018 Team MVP.

While at Furman, Dwyer was a women's soccer SAAC representative for three years while also serving on the SAAC Leadership Board and as SAAC Vice President.

After her four-year undergraduate degree at Furman, she pursued a Masters in Business with Marketing Management at Northumbria University in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England where she also played for the soccer team. Dwyer played every minute of the 13-0-0 soccer season and aided Northumbria Soccer to a League Championship and National University Championship with 18 goals while being named Team MVP.

In addition to her university career as well as her career with the Asheville City Soccer Club, Dwyer has played with the WPSL sides and the Knoxville Force (2015-2017).
