UNC Asheville Athletics Unveils ‘Bulldogs and Backpacks’

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville athletics department is committed to providing first-class opportunities for local youth, which is why for the 2019-20 athletic year a special "Bulldogs and Backpacks" initiative has been unveiled.
 
"Bulldogs and Backpacks" will be the umbrella in which all educational initiatives and partnerships between UNC Asheville athletics and local schools will be showcased.
 
2019-20 "Bulldogs and Backpacks" Events (as of July 1, 2019)
 
Bulldog Block Party Presented by Ingles - This is a FREE community event that is family-friendly from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 13 at Biltmore Park Town Square in front of the Regal movie theaters. This is an opportunity to meet & interact with Bulldog student-athletes and coaches, participate in interactive activities and get your photo with Rocky, the official mascot of UNC Asheville. 
 
Bulldog Kids' Club: The exclusive group for all young fans of the UNC Asheville Bulldogs. Membership is only $20 per year and includes tons of free benefits, including a FREE t-shirt, FREE tickets to all regular season home athletic events and a membership card. Membership is available to those who are 12 & Under. Membership forms are available via UNCABulldogs.com and can be picked up at the Bulldog Block Party, presented by Ingles on July 13th or at the Ticket Box Office at Kimmel Arena. Register today HERE.
 
Education Day Presented by Arby's at Women's Basketball: One of the longest running annual traditions is Education Day hosted by UNC Asheville Women's Basketball at Kimmel Arena. This is a FREE event for local Elementary and Middle Schools, however you must RSVP to Josh Baker at jbaker8@unca.edu. Availability is limited to the first 3,000 local students who RSVP in advance. 
 
Rocky's Reader Program Presented by Zaxby's: This program is back for another year and geared toward local schools in the Asheville area. UNC Asheville Athletics works with local schools to encourage students to read a certain amount of books and if they complete the reading they will receive a FREE ticket to a future UNC Asheville basketball game. A+ Asheville: It's time to once again reward students from local schools for making good grades during the holiday break and UNC Asheville is proud to partner with local schools to provide FREE tickets to those who bring their A+ report card to a specific game during the 2019-20 basketball season.
