ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville student-athletes are thriving in the classroom with the Bulldogs posting a 3.266 grade-point average during the spring of 2019.

In fact, over 70 percent (155) of UNC Asheville's 220 student-athletes in the spring of 2019 ended their efforts in the semester with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher to earn Athletic Director Honor Roll honors.

Even more impressive was the fact that 67 Bulldogs finished with a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher to garner Dean's List accolades, while 29 were named to the Chancellor's List with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages.

Among the men's teams at UNC Asheville, cross country had the highest team GPA (3.565) during the spring of 2019. All of the women's athletic teams at UNC Asheville posted a 3.3 or better GPA during the spring of 2019 with the women's tennis team posting an incredibly impressive 3.622 GPA as a team during their regular season.

"I continue to be impressed with the commitment of our student-athletes in the classroom. It's second-to-none," UNC Asheville Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone said. "The most important piece of our new 'Believe. Achieve. Thrive.' strategic plan is helping to deliver sustained success in the classroom, and this semester proves we are taking the right steps to continue to build high-impact lifetime leaders and that our student-athletes are more than taking advantage of their opportunities to truly be students and athletes."
