Dengokl Chosen First-Team All-State by North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – UNC Asheville redshirt junior standout Sonora Dengokl has been tabbed to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) All-State Team.
The NCCSIA announced its selections on Thursday, April 18, 2019. A total of 10 student-athletes from seven different North Carolina schools were named to the first and second teams.Five different colleges and universities were represented on the first-team all-state, including High Point University, UNC Asheville, NC A&T, Charlotte and UNC Wilmington.
A first-team selection by the NCCSIA, Dengokl was a second-team All-Big South selection.
Dengokl led the Bulldogs in overall scoring with 14.4 points per game. She scored in double digits 16 times this past year to go along with four 20-plus point games this past season.
Highlighting her season was breaking the UNC Asheville NCAA Division I record for points scored in a single game. The guard totaled 36 points on 18 made field goals. Her 18 made field goals matched an overall school record.
Nominations were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by NCCSIA members.
Founded in 2002, the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, softball and baseball.
