Track and Field Scheduled to Compete at Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's and women's track and field teams are scheduled to compete in the two-day Duke Invitational on April 19-20.

Last Time Out – Gamecock Invitational
The Bulldogs competed in the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C. on Saturday, April 13.
In the men's 1500m, UNC Asheville had four competitors finish in the top 15. Sage Turner led the group with a seventh-place finish with a time of 4:03.32. Zach Boone finished two spots behind his teammate with a time of 4:04.13. Graham Parker finished in the 11th spot at 4:05.81. Thomas Little ran a time of 4:07.16, which was good enough for a 13th place finish.
Denley Joseph, Nick Roberts, Grant Lindsay and Tyree McFalling finished 18th overall in the men's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:28.15.
In the men's 400m hurdles, Nick Roberts secured a top 20 finish at 56.80.
McFalling finished the men's 400m dash with a time of 49.10, which was good enough for a top 25 finish.
In the men's long jump, Victor Mathuthu finished in the top half of the competitors with a jump of 6.51m. Mathuthu's most impressive accomplishment of the day was an eighth-place finish in the men's triple jump with a jump of 14.35 meters.
Jack Choiniere secured a top 10 finish in the men's shot put with a throw of 14.60 meters, which is now third place in UNC Asheville history.
Kindra Mingo was .4 seconds off of a top 10 finish in the women's 100m dash with a time of 12.37. Claudia Prieto Alcaide was eight spots behind Mingo with a finish of 12.60.
In the women's 800m run, Alyx Evans had an impressive 21st overall finish with a time of 2:23.73, while Corey McVay finished at 2:37.02.
Two Bulldogs had a top 25 finish in the women's 1500m run. Kelley Coleman ran a 4:46.22 which was good enough for 17th place. Madeline Nichols finished 21st overall with a time of 4:53.36.
The quartet of Brown, Crumbly, Mingo and Evans ran a 4:05.54 in the women's 4x400m relay, which was good enough for an impressive 13th place finish. The other Bulldog quartet of Crenshaw, Froehling, McVay and Mydison Askew finshed 17th with a time of 4.35.04.
About the Duke Invitational
The Duke Invitational is a two-day meet that is hosted by Duke University. The competition will be held at the Morris Williams Track & Field Stadium on the campus of Duke University.
The first day of the meet is set for Friday, April 19. There will be 10 field events and 12 track events on the first day beginning with women's hammer at 9:00 a.m. and the men's 5000m also at 9:00 a.m. The day will conclude with men's shot put at 3:30 p.m. and the women's 1500m at 3:40 p.m.
The second say of the meet will be Saturday, April 20 and it will hold 10 field events and 16 track events. The day will begin with men's discus at 11:00 a.m. and the women's 4x100m relay at 2:30 p.m. Day two will end with women's javelin at 5:30 p.m. and the men's 4x400m relay at 8:50 p.m.
In total, there will be 48 events during the two-day Duke Invitational.

What's Next
UNC Asheville track and field will be back in action next weekend at the Don McGarey Invitational in Kennesaw, Georgia. The two-day meet will be held on April 26-27.
