Baseball to Host Winthrop For Three-Game Series at Greenwood Field

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville baseball team is set to host Big South Conference rival Winthrop for a three-game series April 12-14 at Greenwood Field.
Game one of the series is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start time on Friday, April 12, with the first pitch for game two scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 13. The series will conclude with game three on Sunday, April 14 at 1 p.m.

About the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs are 11-20 on the season and 6-6 in the Big South Conference. UNC Asheville is 7-3 in games played at Greenwood Field.
UNC Asheville has four players hitting over .275 that have started at least 20 games. Greg Gasparro at .354, Danny Wilson at .322, Dominic Freeberger at .292 and Brandon Lankford at .279 have proven to be offensive catalysts for the Bulldogs in the 2019 season. Lankford leads the Bulldogs with 10 home runs and 69 total bases, while Wilson has put together a team-leading 38 hits and 29 RBIs.
Gasparro and Wilson both put together two hit games in the Bulldogs' game versus Appalachian State on April 10. Wednesday's game was Wilson's 10th multi-hit game of the season, while Gasparro now has nine multi-hit games in the 2019 season.
On the hill, Jordan Carr has led the Bulldogs with 42.2 innings pitched. Freshman Jacob Edwards has pitched himself into the weekend rotation with a 2.59 ERA in 31.1 innings pitched. The freshman left-hander has also picked up three wins and one save on the season. Austin Fahr has made 14 appearances out of the bullpen and pitched to a 3.77 ERA. Kole Harris has also made 14 appearances and picked up six saves in his 17.1 innings of work.
About the Eagles
Winthrop is 18-14 and 8-4 in the Big South Conference. The Eagles are 5-7 in road games this season.
As a team, the Eagles are hitting .289 on the season with seven players hitting over the .285 mark. Hunter Lipscomb leads the Eagles out of anyone with at least 100 plate appearances with a .340 batting average. Lipscomb is also tied for the team lead in RBIs with 29 on the season.
