Bulldogs Travel to Charleston for Weekend Matchup

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The undefeated UNC Asheville men's tennis team will look to build upon their early season success on Saturday when they travel for a matchup with College of Charleston at 10 a.m.
The Bulldogs are 10-0 on the season. They have won six of their 10 matches by a score of 6-1 or 7-0. There has only been one time this season that an opponent has won three matches versus the Bulldogs. This came in UNC Asheville's 4-3 win over ECU on Feb. 10.

Last Time Out
UNC Asheville defeated Wofford 6-1 on March 2 to improve to 10-0.
The Terriers proved to be no match for the Bulldogs as UNC Asheville took the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 1, followed by a 6-3 win at No. 2.
The Bulldogs wouldn't stop there as they rolled through singles with wins at No. 1, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 to claim the 6-1 victory in Spartanburg, S.C.
No. 1 in the Nation
The national championship-winning doubles duo of Oli Nolan and Henry Patten remained No. 1 in the latest Oracle Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings that were released on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.
The Bulldog duo has now been ranked No. 1 in the country in the last three national rankings. The No. 1 ranking is the highest doubles ranking in Big South tennis history and it is the highest a Bulldog tennis duo has ever been ranked.
The pairing moved up from No. 2 to No. 1 nationally in the Feb. 6 poll. Coming out of the fall, Nolan and Patten were ranked second in the poll that was released on Nov. 14, 2018.
Nolan and Patten went undefeated playing together during the fall and won three titles including the national championship victory at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex.
This spring so far the duo is 7-0. Patten is also a perfect 6-0 in singles, while Nolan has five wins in singles.

Freshman of the Week
UNC Asheville freshman Sirawit Daosaengsawang was selected as the Big South Men's Tennis Freshman of the Week on Tuesday, March 5, 2019.
Daosaengsawang defeated Wofford's Lucas Cerbelli 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 singles in UNC Asheville's win over Wofford on Saturday, March 2.
He also teamed with Olly Cull to down Bryce Keim and Omar Williams, 6-3, at No. 2 doubles.

Player of the Week
UNC Asheville men's tennis sophomore standout Oli Nolan was chosen as the Big South Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019.
Nolan went a perfect 2-0 in singles and doubles during that period for the Bulldogs. Playing at No. 2 singles, Nolan first picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win over Amit Baran of North Carolina Central on Saturday, Feb. 23. Nolan then collected a 6-4, 6-2 win over Appalachian State's Milo Bargeron at No. 1 singles on Sunday, Feb. 24.
In doubles, Nolan teamed with Henry Patten to first best the NCCU No. 1 duo of Baran and Gabriel Cucalon, 6-0. The nation's No. 1 doubles team then picked up a 6-3 win over Appalachian State's Bargeron and Alex Pavkovich.

College of Charleston is 8-2 on the season. They are 0-1 on their home court after dropping their first home match 5-2 on Tuesday, March 5, to James Madison.

The Bulldogs will travel to Florida for four matches in five days beginning Monday, March 11. The Bulldogs will face FAU on Monday, Stetson on Tuesday, FGCU on Wednesday and Boston University on Friday in Boca Raton.
