Three Bulldogs Earn Big South Postseason Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – To represent UNC Asheville women's basketball, Sonora Dengokl, Jessica Wall and Brooke Jordan-Brown all earned Big South Conference postseason awards.

Dengokl was placed on the Second-Team All-Conference, while Wall was one of five players on the Honorable Mention All-Conference. Jordan-Brown rounded out the accolades for UNC Asheville, as she was placed on the All-Academic Team.

The official announcement was made by the league office on Monday, March 11, 2019.

Dengokl leads the team in overall scoring, as she averages 14.8 points per game. With her scoring average, she is ranked fifth in league play. She has scored in double digits 14 times this year to go along with three 20-plus point games this season. Her .429 field goal percentage ranks her ninth in the league and her 119 made field goals places her 13th in the Big South.

Highlighting her season was breaking the UNC Asheville DI record for points scored in a single game. The guard totaled 36 points on 18 made field goals. Her 18 made field goals matched an overall school record.

Wall is averaging 11.0 ppg this year, including a 12.1 scoring average in league action. She currently ranks first in the Big South in three-pointers made per game (2.6) and total made three-pointers (74). The guard has led the team in scoring 10 times this year and has tallied three 20-plus point games this year. With her .352 three-point percentage, she ranks eighth in the Big South. She is also 15th in the Big South in assists per game (2.6) and 18th in the league in scoring.

Highlighting her season was breaking the UNC Asheville record for career made three-pointers. She currently has 222 made three-pointers during her four-year Bulldog career.

The final Bulldog to earn a postseason award was center Jordan-Brown. The junior is averaging 4.3 ppg and 6.9 rebounds per contest. She also has 39 total blocks in 28 games played. She broke the school record for blocks in a single game with seven at High Point to end the regular season. She is ranked fourth in the Big South in total blocks and is in the top 10 in total rebounds.

Jordan-Brown is a double major at UNC Asheville in Health & Wellness and Biology. She has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.976. In fact, she has posted four straight 4.0 semesters. She is a member of the Order of Pisgah, Bulldog Ambassador Program and Blue Ribbon Wellness Committee. She has volunteered off the court with the Read Two Succeed, UNC Asheville's Greenfest, Woodfin Elementary School and Beloved.

The Bulldog trio and the rest of the UNC Asheville squad returns to action in the Big South Conference Tournament, as the Bulldogs will square off with No. 5 Gardner-Webb. Their head-to-head contest will be hosted inside the Dedmon Center in Radford, Va. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m.
