First ‘Lunch With AD Cone’ of Spring Semester Celebrates Collaboration Between University and Athletics

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Academics and athletics together is a winning combination, particularly at UNC Asheville.

That's why it was important to UNC Asheville Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone that as she began a new series of "Lunch with AD Cone" that both were incorporated.

"We have a great relationship with academics at UNC Asheville, and when telling our story it's important that we relay just how crucial the collaboration really is for our success," Cone said. "We could not build champions in athletics and leaders in life without the huge support of our faculty and staff, and I am thankful as part of our series others are going to be able to even further see all of the great things taking place at UNC Asheville."

The first "Lunch with AD Cone" of the spring semester gave those in attendance a unique opportunity to hear from UNC Asheville student-athletes, coaches, staff and faculty.

UNC Asheville baseball head coach Scott Friedholm spoke about all of the great things happening with his program, while rising senior volleyball student-athlete Carter Kennedy talked about what it means to her to be a student-athlete and the tremendous opportunities she has received.

Also in attendance at the event from the athletics department were men's tennis student-athlete Finlay Ray McFadyen, Faculty Athletic Representative Dr. Jeff Wilcox and swimming & diving head coach Elizabeth Lykins.
