Bulldogs Travel to East Carolina This Weekend for Two Matches

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Undefeated UNC Asheville men's tennis will hit the road for the first time in the 2019 spring season this weekend to face George Mason and East Carolina.
The Bulldogs (2-0) will first take on George Mason at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the ECU Indoor Tennis Facility before battling the Pirates of East Carolina in their home facility at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3.

Opening Weekend
The Bulldogs opened their first weekend of the 2019 season with a 7-0 win over Mars Hill on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
The Bulldogs opened the match by easily taking the doubles points with a sweep. UNC Asheville followed up their strong play in doubles with a dominating performance in singles as well with all six wins coming in straight sets.
UNC Asheville closed out its first weekend of the 2019 season with a 5-2 win over Lenoir-Rhyne on Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
The match started with Lenoir-Rhyne taking the doubles point. The Bulldogs did pick up the win at No. 2 doubles though with the duo of Edward Colclough and Oli Nolan winning their eighth straight match together dating back to last season. Colclough and Nolan downed Mauricio Hernandez and Josh Lazenby, 7-6.
UNC Asheville (2-0) from there picked up wins in five of the six singles flights to collect the 5-2 win.
Bulldogs Helping Out in the Community
During UNC Asheville's 5-2 win over Lenoir-Rhyne, the 2019 Fed Cup ball kids had the chance to have a full run through ahead of the 2019 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas in Asheville at the U.S. Cellular Center on Feb. 9 and 10. To learn more, please visit HERE.
Inaugural Tennis Kickoff Reception a Huge Success
The UNC Asheville tennis programs are an incredibly important part of the athletics department and the Asheville community, but there is always room for more people to learn about Bulldog tennis.
For this reason, UNC Asheville tennis held their inaugural Tennis Kickoff Reception at the home of Ron and Nancy Edgerton.
The event was a special meet and greet designed to allow individuals to learn more about the UNC Asheville men's and women's tennis student-athletes and coaches.

Scouting George Mason and East Carolina
George Mason enters the upcoming weekend with an overall record of 0-1 after opening its 2019 season with a 5-2 loss to James Madison. East Carolina is 4-0 overall on the year with wins over James Madison, The Citadel, Navy and Mount Saint Mary's.
