Inaugural UNC Asheville Tennis Kickoff Reception a Huge Success

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville tennis programs are an incredibly important part of the athletics department and the Asheville community, but there is always room for more people to learn about Bulldog tennis.
For this reason, UNC Asheville tennis held their inaugural Tennis Kickoff Reception at the home of Ron and Nancy Edgerton.
The event was a special meet and greet designed to allow individuals to learn more about the UNC Asheville men's and women's tennis student-athletes and coaches.
From the exceptional attendance on the evening it was easy to see that the first-ever reception on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, was a huge success.
"The inaugural men's and women's tennis kickoff event went really well," UNC Asheville women's tennis head coach Lise Gregory said. "We had a great crowd of about 60 people, which consisted of local tennis players, alums and some people who have never touched a tennis racket before. It was a great opportunity for everybody to get to know each other a little better and hopefully this will lead to more support for the programs and a closer relationship with the community."
UNC Asheville men's tennis head coach Tom Hand was thrilled to see so many come out and support the programs and get the tremendous opportunity to hear from the Bulldog tennis student-athletes.
"It was so great to see so many friends of the tennis programs at our first-ever kickoff event," Hand said. "Our student-athletes are our best ambassadors and they did a tremendous job once again. We truly also want to say thank you again to Ron and Nancy Edgerton for opening their home for this first-class event."
Both the men's and women's tennis programs at UNC Asheville have already started their 2019 spring seasons.
