Three First Place Finishes Highlight Bulldogs Day

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – UNC Asheville swim and dive secured three first place finishes Saturday in a 174-88 loss to Campbell in Buies Creek, N.C.
Skylar Rogan secured two of the first place finishes with impressive times in the 1000 freestyle and the 500 freestyle. In the 1000 freestyle, the second event of the day, Rogan claimed nine points for the Bulldogs with a time of 10:45.01. She claimed nine more points with a time of 5:16.45 in the 500 freestyle.
Ellis Nelson claimed the Bulldogs third first place finish with the top spot in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:35.79. Amelia Ham took the number two overall spot in the event with a time of 2:34.86.
The Bulldogs claimed four points in the very first event of the day, the 400 medley. UNC Asheville Relay A consisting of Nora Segurola Larrinaga, Christina Marshall, Catherine Allen and Bela Stuart Vieira finished in second place with a time of 4:02.72. That time was only three seconds off the first place team.
Adee Weller claimed a third place finish in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:59.24.
Jessie Frank and Segurola Larrinaga claimed top five finishes in the 200 freestyle with times of 2:00.75 and 2:00.81, respectively.
Christina Marshall and Lily Sullivan each added to the Bulldogs' point total with top five finishes in the 100 breaststroke. Marshall claimed a second place finish with a time of 1:10.27 and Sullivan finished with a time of 1:11.11 and a fourth place finish.
Catherine Allen and Madison Rogan secured third and fourth place finishes, respectively, in the 200 butterfly. Allen finished with a time of 2:20.26 and Rogan finished with a time of 2:10.80.
Delaney Carlton took a third place finish in 50 freestyle with a time of 24.68.
Stuart Vieira and Weller both finished with top five finishes in the 100 freestyle with times of 54.57 and 54.72. Frank and Delaney were right on their heels with sixth and seventh place finishes with times of 55.01 and 55.66.
Segurola Larrinaga finished third in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:10.08. Christa Jones and Lexi Federico finished fifth and sixth with times of 2:16.21 and 2:23.51.
Catherine Allen took a second place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:19.13.
The Bulldogs had three top five finishes in the 200 IM. Madison Rogan finished second with a time of 2:15.12 while Christina Marshall finished third with a time of 2:15.89. Ellis
Nelson claimed the fourth spot with a time 2:17.85.
The Bulldogs finished the meet with a second place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. UNC Asheville Relay A consisting of Nora Segurola Larrinaga, Hannah Bruno, Adee Weller and Delaney Carlton completed a time of 1:40.27.
The Bulldogs will be back in action October 25-26 when they take on the Liberty Flames in Lynchburg, Va. Â
