Swimming & Diving Drops Non-Conference Dual Meet at UNCW

RESULTS
WILMINGTON, N.C. – In its final non-conference meet of the 2018-19 season, the UNC Asheville swimming & diving team fell to UNC Wilmington, 216-81, inside the Seahawk Natatorium.

Highlights
To kick off the dual meet, UNC Asheville's A Team finished fourth in the 200 medley relay. Consisting of Emma Nelson, Morgan Rulevich, Anna Nabors and Adee Weller, the four Bulldogs clocked a 1:48.75. The Bulldogs' B Team placed sixth with a 1:53.90 time.
In the first individual race of the meet, Skylar Rogan led Asheville in the 1000 freestyle. The junior from Athens, Ga. posted a 10:31.85. She bested the third-place finisher by nearly 18 seconds. Aleta Jewell and Sydney VandenBerg finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the same event.
Overall, Weller earned Asheville another second-place finish, as the junior from Boulder, Colo. earned a silver medal in the 200 freestyle. She clocked a 1:54.54 time and bested UNC Wilmington's fastest swimmer by nearly a second. Catherine Allen just missed on a medal, as the reigning Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year swam a 1:56.71 in the same event. She downed UNCW's second-fastest swimmer by over a quarter of a second.
Two events later, Rulevich earned Asheville's third second-place finish of the meet, as the senior clocked a 1:06.65 in the 100 breaststroke. She was just under one second away from matching the first-place finisher.
Madison Rogan and Allen finished second and third, respectively, for UNC Asheville in the 200 butterfly. Madison Rogan posted a 2:06.15, while Allen finished with a 2:07.96. The two Bulldogs finished ahead of all Seahawk swimmers.
Rulevich missed on another medal (fourth), as she clocked a 24.43 time in the 50 free.
Three events later, Rulevich earned another medal, as she placed third in the 200 breaststroke. The Lake Wylie, S.C. native posted a 2:26.23 time and was only 0.21 seconds away from matching second place.
Skylar Rogan and Allen finished second and third in the 500 freestyle to pace Asheville in the event. Skylar Rogan earned a 5:06.87 time, which was under a second away from matching the first-place finisher. Allen clocked a 5:09.71 time.
In the 100 butterfly, Madison Rogan finished fourth in the event. The junior earned a 58.47 time and just missed on a third-place finish by 0.02 seconds.
After a one-event break, Madison Rogan finished runner-up in the 200 individual medley. The Athens, Ga. native clocked a 2:09.26 mark and bested the third-place finisher by over four-and-a-half seconds.
In the final swimming event of the meet (400 freestyle relay), UNC Asheville's A Team placed fifth in the event. Skylar Rogan, Weller, Elizabeth Conte and Woolfe combined for a 3:41.35 time and was just a second away from moving into third place.
UNC Asheville sent a pair of divers to compete in the 1m diving event – Alyssa Vincent and Kerigan Martin. Both Bulldogs performed strong dives and finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Vincent earned 158.25 points, while Martin totaled 131.35 points.

UNC Asheville will wrap up the 2018-19 regular season with its annual Senior Meet. The meet will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19 inside the Justice Center Pool, and it will start at 11 a.m., as the Bulldogs will face off against CCSA rival Liberty.
