Box Score
ASHEVILLE, N.C. –The UNC Asheville men's tennis team opened its 2019 season with a dominating 7-0 win over Mars Hill on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
"Obviously it was a good start for us in the first match of the year," UNC Asheville men's tennis head coach Tom Hand said. "We were able to give some of our younger guys or newer faces some dual match experience. I think it's going to be a steep learning curve for them, but hopefully we'll learn these early important lessons about dual matches sooner rather than later because we have got a deep squad and we're going to need everybody this year."
The Bulldogs opened the match by easily taking the doubles points with a sweep.
UNC Asheville followed up their strong play in doubles with a dominating performance in singles as well with all six wins coming in straight sets.
The Bulldogs will next continue their opening weekend by welcoming Lenoir-Rhyne to the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown for a 3 p.m. match on Sunday, Jan. 27. The match will be played indoors.
