Four Bulldogs Race in the 4x800m Relay in Opening Day of Liberty Kickoff

LYNCHBURG, Va. – To open the 2019 Liberty Kickoff, four Bulldogs - Samantha Hirsch, Corey McVay, Samantha Decker and Kelley Petroski - represented UNC Asheville track and field in the women's 4 x 800m relay on Friday.
The foursome, which consisted of three freshmen (Hirsch, McVay and Decker), finished 12th in the 4x800m relay. Petroski, the lone senior in the relay, anchored the race for the Bulldogs. As a whole, the four Bulldogs finished with a 10:53.15.
The second and final day of the Liberty Kickoff will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday with the men's weight throw. The first two track events will be the men's and women's 60mH timed finals starting at 9:45 a.m. The final events of the meet are the men's at women's 3000m, which begin at 5:55 p.m.
