Wincheski Tabbed Big South Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time this season, UNC Asheville's Clara Wincheski has been chosen as the Big South Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

The league office made the official announcement on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018.

This past weekend Wincheski continued her strong start to her freshman season by winning the Asheville Cross Country Invitational with a time of 18:21.11.

Wincheski was one of five from the UNC Asheville women's cross country team to finish in the top-10 in total in their home meet.

Wincheski was also named Big South Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Sept. 5 after she started off her career by finishing seventh overall individually at the 5K Covered Bridge Open on Aug. 31. She closed out the event with a freshman record time of 17:58.06. The time is the fourth-fastest in program history.

UNC Asheville cross country will next open the month of October by participating in the Pirate Invitational in Greenville, N.C. on Friday, Oct. 12.
