UNC Asheville Athletics Set for Fun Alumni/Hall of Fame Weekend

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville fans and friends are truly in for a fun weekend ahead.
The weekend for UNC Asheville athletics actually gets underway on Thursday, Sept. 20 with the annual Bulldog Alumni Career Day Panel for the student-athletes sponsored by Enterprise.
This year's Bulldog Alumni Career Panel sponsored by Enterprise featured Ingrid Allstaedt (cross country and track and field), Omar Ahmad (track and field), Sam Maynard (track and field), Stephen Sloan (men's soccer) and Rachel Rhoney (women's tennis).
On Friday, Sept. 21, UNC Asheville athletics will start the day with the UNC Asheville baseball program hosting its annual alumni golf outing at the High Vista Golf Club.
UNC Asheville cross country will host its annual invitational later on Friday at Asheville Christian Academy. The women's 5K race is scheduled to get underway at 5:45 p.m., while the men's 8K race takes center stage at 6:15 p.m.
Winners of two straight, UNC Asheville volleyball starts Big South Conference play by hosting Radford at the Justice Center at 6 p.m. on Friday. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
UNC Asheville volleyball will also be holding a special alumni reunion and celebrating its 1991 and 1992 Big South championship teams on the evening.
The fun for UNC Asheville athletics starts early on Saturday morning with its annual Hall of Fame ceremony that gets underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Sherrill Center.
The 2018 Hall of Fame class is comprised of men's basketball legend Guy Batsel (1966-68), volleyball standout Elif Unlu Englert (2003-07), women's soccer star Kristi Cummings Melis (1993-96) and beloved former faculty member Dr. Robert Yearout (1987-2016).
Later that afternoon both UNC Asheville soccer and baseball will also hold alumni events.
UNC Asheville's Alumni Weekend will close with a men's and women's soccer doubleheader at Greenwood Field.
UNC Asheville women's soccer will first host Big South rival Campbell at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 in a matchup that will be streamed live on ESPN+.
UNC Asheville men's soccer will then play host to league foe Longwood as part of the Alumni Weekend festivities. The Bulldogs host the Lancers at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 in a matchup that will be streamed live on ESPN+.
UNC Asheville alumni are invited to watch the soccer doubleheader from the Alumni Zone – a family-friendly, exclusive access area with food, drinks and fun from 5-7 p.m. The UNC Asheville Alumni Association is hosting the alumni in the Alumni Zone to watch the soccer action and enjoy activities from the Matt & Molly Team and an interactive photo booth by TAPSNAP.
