Big South Conference Releases 2018-19 Women’s Basketball Conference Schedule

09.11.2018 | Women's Basketball

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference released the 2018-19 conference schedule for the UNC Asheville women's basketball team on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018.

UNC Asheville women's basketball is still finalizing times for the conference schedule. When officially finalized that information will be passed along.

The Bulldogs start the conference schedule on the road on Jan. 5 at Radford, and they will play their first conference home game on Jan. 8 versus newly-accepted member Hampton.

Asheville will make a two-day turnaround to travel to Gardner-Webb on Jan. 10. The Bulldogs took down the Runnin' Bulldogs last season in Boiling Springs, N.C., as Khaila Webb hit the game-winning shot with five seconds remaining in regulation.

Campbell will travel to Asheville on Jan. 12 for the Bulldogs' second conference home game of the season. The Camels came to Kimmel Arena last year, and the Bulldogs edged Campbell, 38-33, in the lowest scoring game of the season. The 33 allowed points marked the lowest since the 2006 Big South Conference Tournament, when UNC Asheville allowed 32 points against Radford.

After a road trip to USC Upstate on Jan. 15, the Bulldogs host back-to-back games versus High Point and Longwood. Asheville claimed a 30-point win over the Lancers last year at home, while the Panthers earned a 58-45 win in Kimmel Arena.

The Bulldogs will take their first day off on Jan. 26, as they prepare for a road trip to Presbyterian on Jan. 29.

To conclude the first half of the conference schedule, UNC Asheville will entertain Winthrop on Feb. 2 inside Kimmel Arena. Last year in Kimmel Arena the Bulldogs downed the Eagles, 63-51, behind double-figures from Zip Scott, Jessica Wall and Webb.

To kick off the second half of the Big South schedule, Asheville will play back-to-back road games at Charleston Southern and Campbell on Feb. 5 and 9, respectively.

Sandwiched between four road games, UNC Asheville will host Presbyterian on Feb. 12.

The Bulldogs will again play two straight games on the road, as they travel to Winthrop and Longwood in mid-February.

After four road games in the last five contests, UNC Asheville hosts USC Upstate (Feb. 23), Radford (Feb. 26) and CSU (March 2) to conclude the home portion of the schedule.

The final game of the season for Asheville will be at High Point on March 5. Last year in High Point, N.C. Bronaza Fitzgerald and Wall each scored 20-plus points in the road contest. Webb added 18 points of her own in the 19-point rout of the Panthers.

UNC Asheville will take March 9 off, as it will prepare for the Big South Conference Tournament. The conference tournament begins on March 12.
