More Than Making the Grade: UNC Asheville Athletics Puts Together Special Year in the Classroom

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - For the 2017-18 athletic year, the UNC Asheville student-athletes showed their commitment to the classroom by finishing the academic year with a combined grade-point average of 3.142.

Impressively, 72 percent (161 of 223) UNC Asheville student-athletes during the 2017-18 athletic year received Athletic Director Honor Roll recognition with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

In addition, 90 Bulldog student-athletes owned a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher to earn Dean's List recognition.

UNC Asheville athletics had a total of 24 student-athletes collect Chancellor's List honors in the 2017-18 athletic year with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages.

The athletic year concluded for UNC Asheville with 42 athletic graduates taking part in the May 2018 Commencement exercises held at the quadrangle on the UNC Asheville campus on Saturday, May 12, 2018.

"I am always amazed and impressed by the efforts of our Bulldogs in the classroom," UNC Asheville Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone said. "The commitment of our student-athletes to become Champions and Leaders in the classroom at UNC Asheville is second-to-none. I am so proud of each of them and also want to thank our faculty, coaches and staff for helping our Bulldogs have another great academic year."
