ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville women's basketball forward Bronaza Fitzgerald has signed a professional contract to play with the TV Saarlouis Royals out of Germany.Â
"We are so happy for Bree, and this opportunity for her to continue her basketball career as a professional is really exciting," said head coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick.
Fitzgerald concluded her four-year Bulldog career with 963 points and 753 rebounds. In her final season at UNC Asheville, she averaged a double-double with 13.9 points and 10 rebounds per contest.Â
"She had an exceptional year this past season and had arguably the best overall performance in the conference by leading the league in both scoring (15.3 points per game) and rebounding (11 rebounds per game) in our 18-game conference schedule," Mock said.
Fitzgerald finished her career ranked fifth in UNC Asheville Division I career rebounding and seventh in all-time rebounding.Â
With her 319 rebounds during the 2017-18 season, she ranks first in UNC Asheville Division I history for single-season rebounds.
Behind her .584 percent field goal percentage last season, Fitzgerald netted 446 points, which ranks eighth in UNC Asheville Division I single-season scoring. During her senior campaign, she was the Bulldogs' leading rebounder in 27 games and scorer in 14 games. Out of her 31 starts last season, Fitzgerald posted double-digits in points in 25 games.
"I am thankful to her agent, Thomas Prodromou, for securing Bree a job where she will be successful and will continue to grow. We will be cheering her on from Asheville next season and are wishing her the very best as she begins her career in Saarlouis, Germany," Mock said.Â
