Mock Adds Jimeshia Lawson to 2018-19 Roster

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – To round out the 2018-19 UNC Asheville women's basketball roster, head coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick added Boyd Anderson High School standout Jimeshia Lawson to the roster for next season.
"We are excited to announce the addition of Jimeshia Lawson to our Bulldog basketball family. Jimeshia is the type of student and person that will help continue the success in our women's basketball program and take us to that next level," Mock said.
Lawson is a 5-foot-9-inch guard that hails from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. As a three-year starter and two-time captain for Boyd Anderson, she adds more size and athleticism to the perimeter for Asheville.
"As a basketball player, she fills a need we have for more size and athleticism on the perimeter. She is a powerful guard, who can mix it up in the paint as well as score consistently from the outside with a great mid-range game. Jimeshia is eager to learn and grow as both a student in the classroom and a student of the game, and we couldn't be more thrilled that she has chosen UNC Asheville to call home."
During her senior season, Lawson was the Cobras' leading scorer and rebounder. She averaged 18 points, nine rebounds and four steals per game during her final season at Boyd Anderson. She was named the team's Most Valuable Player and earned Sun-Sentinel Second Team All-County honors. Lawson also participated in the Dade versus Broward All-Star Game. In the same season, Lawson led Boyd Anderson to an 18-7 overall record and its first playoff and Big 8 appearance since the 2012 season.
As a junior, Lawson was named the Defensive Player of the Year and also garnered Sun-Sentinel Honorable Mention honors. She averaged 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals per contest that season.
Lawson was a two-sport athlete at Boyd Anderson. She competed in track & field and was named to the 2017 Broward County 3A Honorable Mention as well as a state qualifier in high jump.
