ASHEVILLE, N.C. – It's important.

Very important.

The "Our Turn to Play Scholarship Luncheon" presented by Wells Fargo is an annual event that helps raise funds for women's student-athletes at UNC Asheville.

The event recognizes the many successes of women in athletics and encourages all to support gender equity.

UNC Asheville Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone knows just how important the "Our Turn to Play Scholarship Luncheon" presented by Wells Fargo is every year.

"The annual 'Our Turn to Play Scholarship Luncheon' supporting women's athletic scholarships is one of our most important events of the year," Cone said. "This fundraising event is key to the success of our women's athletics programs, and just like every year we have been overwhelmed by the amount of individuals who want to help support this endeavor. There is space still available, and we hope more can join us for what promises to be a special event."

A former UNC Asheville track and field standout before going into the real estate business in the Asheville area, Molly de Mattos ('02) knows her college scholarship made a huge difference in allowing her to be where she is today.

"Getting that scholarship from UNC Asheville gave me the foundation on which I built my future on," the co-owner with 'The Matt & Molly Team' said. "Being at UNC Asheville was the incubator for the beginning of a successful and confident journey!"

The keynote speaker for this year's "Our Turn to Play Scholarship Luncheon" is Donna Orender, who is the CEO of Orender Unlimited, a Jacksonville-based consulting and advisory firm. A former professional women's basketball player, Orender previously served as the WNBA President and she has also worked with the PGA.
