Koike Breaks School Record in Men’s 400m Dash on Saturday

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Hunter Koike had an outstanding performance at the 2018 Catamount Classic, as the senior broke the UNC Asheville men's track and field program record in the men's 400m dash on Saturday.

Koike clocked a 49.44 time in the 400m, which placed him 13th overall in the 43-person field. 

The previous school record was held by current teammate Kimani Anderson, who posted a 49.50 in 2016. 

Koike's previous career-best time in the event was a 50.26, which he set last year at the Duke Invitational. 

What's Next?

Koike and the UNC Asheville men's and women's track and field teams return back to competition on April 20 to compete in the two-day Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C.
