UNC Asheville Men’s Tennis Plays Host to Blue Hens on Monday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Fresh off a big team win over No. 39 Clemson, UNC Asheville men's tennis next continues its six-match homestand by playing host to Delaware at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 26, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.

The UNC Asheville men's tennis team picked up a huge 4-2 upset victory over nationally 39th-ranked Clemson on Wednesday, March 21, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
Clemson (7-3) had entered the match having won seven doubles points in its nine matches on the year, but UNC Asheville (5-8) had other ideas with the Bulldogs taking two of the three flights in doubles to collect the point.
The Bulldog No. 1 doubles duo of Henry Patten and Olly Cull collected a statement win at the No. 1 spot with a 6-1 victory over the nationally 22nd-ranked Clemson tandem of Alex Favrot and Simon Baudry. Cull and Patten are now a perfect 8-0 on the season.
Edward Colclough and Oli Nolan made sure to secure the doubles point with a hard-fought 6-4 win over Sam Edwards and Yizhou Liu of Clemson at No. 2 doubles.
Currently ranked 69th nationally in singles, Patten easily bested Baudry 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. The win was Patten's second over Baudry in the 2017-18 athletic year. Patten bested Baudry 6-4, 6-2 in the ITA Carolinas Regional semifinals in October of 2017 before eventually taking down Favrot 6-3, 6-1 in the finals to take home the region crown.
Nolan picked up the point at No. 2 doubles for UNC Asheville with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win over Edwards.
UNC Asheville clinched the win at No. 6 singles where Andrew Sinai downed Clemson's Marshall Dagostine 7-6, 6-3.
About Delaware
The Blue Hens make their way to Asheville owning an overall record of 10-4 on the season. Delaware is 4-2 in away matches on the season. The Blue Hens and Bulldogs share a common opponent in Radford. Delaware dropped its match, 5-2, to the Highlanders this past Friday, while UNC Asheville picked up a thrilling 4-3 Big South Conference road win at Radford on Sunday, March 18.
