BOONE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's tennis fell 5-2 to Appalachian State on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Deer Valley Racquet Club.
UNC Asheville (3-4) opened the match by taking the doubles point. UNC Asheville won at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to secure the point.
The duo of Oli Nolan and Edward Colclough picked up a 6-3 win over Appalachian State's Scott Webster and Milo Bargeron at No. 1, while Andrew Sinai and Finlay Ray McFadyen garnered a hard-fought 7-6 win over Appalachian State's Alex Brea and Campbell Stone at No. 3 doubles.
McFadyen picked up UNC Asheville's only win in singles over Appalachian State (7-3) with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Stone at No. 5 singles.
UNC Asheville will next play host to Wofford at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown. The match is the first of two on the weekend with UNC Asheville opening Big South Conference play a day later by welcoming Winthrop to the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 4.
