Bulldogs Drop Road Dual Meet at FGCU

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Despite winning four individual events, the UNC Asheville women's swimming & diving team dropped a Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) dual meet at Florida Gulf Coast on Monday afternoon, 171-91.Â
Highlights
To kick off the CCSA dual meet, the UNC Asheville A Team finished second in the 200 medley relay. Consisting of Jessica Woolfe, Morgan Rulevich, Anna Nabors and Adee Weller, the foursome clocked a 1:50.52 time. The Bulldogs' B Team placed fourth with a 1:54.17 time.
In the longest race of the meet (1650 freestyle), Catherine Allen finished first and won by nearly 19 seconds. The reigning CCSA Scholar-Athlete of the Year clocked a time of 17:40.97. Madison Rogan and Sydney VandenBerg finished third and fourth, respectively, in the same event.
In the lone diving event of the dual meet (1m), Alyssa Vincent and Kerigan Martin represented UNC Asheville. Vincent finished fifth with 142.42 points, and Martin placed sixth with 124.27 points.
Two events later, Rulevich won Asheville's second event of the meet in the 50 breaststroke. The senior clocked a 29.73 time and nearly bested the runner-up by a second.
Nabors earned the bronze in the 100 butterfly, as the rookie swam a 59.69 time. She was only 0.14 seconds away from matching second place.Â
Fellow freshman Amelia Ham also earned a third-place finish. The Townsend, Ga. native clocked a 25.54 time. Teammates Weller, MacKenzie Humphrey and Elizabeth Conte finished right behind Ham.
Weller, Ham and Skylar Rogan went third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100 freestyle. Weller had the fastest time at 54.58, and Ham and Skylar Rogan were within 0.05 seconds of each other.
Emma Nelson and Woolfe finished second and third, respectively, in the 100 backstroke. Nelson clocked a 1:01.72 mark, while Woolfe earned a 1:02.51 time.Â
Rulevich got back in the win column, as she won the 100 breaststroke. The senior posted a 1:05.71 time.
One event later, Skylar Rogan won the 200 freestyle, as the Athens, Ga. native earned a 1:58.98 time.Â
In the last event of the meet (200 freestyle relay), the UNC Asheville A Team finished second. Rulevich, Weller, Humphrey and Woolfe combined for a 1:40.12 time.
Overall, Florida Gulf Coast won the CCSA meet, 171-91. However, the 91 points scored against the league foe are the most the Bulldogs have tallied against the Eagles.Â

What's Next?
UNC Asheville will open the new year with a CCSA dual meet at UNC Wilmington on Saturday, Jan. 5. The meet in Wilmington, N.C. will start at 1 p.m. at the Seahawk Natatorium.
