Evans Tabbed Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sophomore guard Nadiria Evans was named the Big South Conference Player of the Week on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, following her career-high 18-point performance versus ETSU last week.
This is Evans' first career Big South Player of the Week accolade. Last season the guard was named the Big South Freshman of the Week for her first career weekly honor.
Evans' Big South Player of the Week honor marks the second time a Bulldog has earned the award this season – Sonora Dengokl on Nov. 26, 2018.
This accolade marks the 10th Big South Player of the Week honor under seventh-year head coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick's guidance and the ninth Player of the Week honor since the 2015-16 season.
In the lone game of the week, Evans broke a career high, as she netted 18 points in the final home non-conference game of the year for UNC Asheville. Coming off the bench, the Gainesville, Fla. native totaled a career-high 24 minutes on the hardwood and went 6-for-11 from the field. The six made field goals marked a new career high for the sophomore. She also totaled a trio of assists, which also marked a new single-game best. Evans capped off her night by going perfect from the free-throw line, 6-for-6.
Solely playing off the bench this season, Evans is Asheville's second-leading scorer with 10.6 points per game. The guard has scored in double digits in five games this year. She is averaging 20.5 minutes per game and is shooting .485 percent from the field.
Evans and the Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 18, as they square off with Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, Tenn. Tipoff is set for 12 p.m. ET and will be streamed on ESPN+.
