Bulldogs Travel to Charleston Southern on Tuesday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Winners of four straight, UNC Asheville volleyball (10-11, 5-6 Big South) will next travel to Charleston Southern for a match that was postponed earlier this season.
The match is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30. It will be streamed live on BSN on ESPN+.
BULLDOG BITES
UNC Asheville in the Big South Statistics
Cara Guthrie is currently third in the Big South in kills (3.37) and points (3.86) per set. Guthrie is also fifth in the Big South in aces per set (0.36). Julia Loveday (0.90) and Cecilia Stack (0.84) are both in the top-10 in the league in blocks per set. Madisen Zyburt is presently third in the Big South in digs per set at 4.92.
In the Conference Matches Statistics
Madisen Zyburt currently leads the Big South in league matches with 5.18 digs per set. Cara Guthrie is third in league matches in kills per set at 3.21. She is seventh in points per set in conference matches at 3.56. Julia Loveday is seventh in league matches with 0.95 blocks per set.
Double-Double
Cara Guthrie picked up her fourth consecutive double-double and eighth of the season in UNC Asheville's win over Gardner-Webb. Guthrie has averaged 4.29 kills and 3.79 digs per set in the last four matches for UNC Asheville.
Nearing 1,000 Digs
Cara Guthrie already has surpassed 1,000 kills in her career earlier this season, but she is nearing joining the ultra-exclusive club of those with 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs. After the win over Gardner-Webb, Guthrie now has 973 digs in her career. Guthrie, who currently has 1,156 kills, would become just the 12th in UNC Asheville volleyball history to have over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.

The Buccaneers welcome UNC Asheville owning a 10-9 overall record on the 2018 season. Charleston Southern is 5-6 in league play. The Buccaneers currently have five players with over 100 kills on the season with Madison Malloch leading the way with 2.60 kills per set.
First Meeting
UNC Asheville picked up a 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-21) Big South victory over Charleston Southern on Friday, Oct. 19 at the Justice Center. The Bulldogs were led in the sweep of Charleston Southern by Cara Guthrie's 15 kills and 11 digs. Guthrie hit an impressive .371 in the match.
Grace Volk paced the Bulldogs offensively with 29 assists. She just missed on a double-double of her own with eight digs. The league leader in conference matches in digs per set, Madisen Zyburt put together another strong performance with 15 digs.
The Bulldogs had three with two solo blocks each in Cecilia Stack, Julia Loveday and Guthrie. Stack led the Bulldogs with three blocks overall.
Julia Borges collected three service aces for UNC Asheville in the match.
