ASHEVILLE, N.C. – For its first tri-meet of the season, the UNC Asheville swimming & diving team will travel to Davidson, N.C. on Saturday to square off with Davidson and VMI in the Cannon Natatorium.

For the first time this season, UNC Asheville will travel five divers with three competing in the 1m diving event.

BULLDOG BITES

Recent News and Highlights From UNC Asheville

UNC Asheville had two road meets last weekend, and it went 1-1 with its head-to-head win being a 141-121 victory over North Florida on Saturday. The Bulldogs fell by 31 points to Georgia Southern on Friday, but 32 points were awarded to the Eagles in diving events. UNC Asheville did not travel divers for the two-meet road swing.

At GSU the Bulldogs won eight out of the 11 swimming events, including eight of the nine individual swimming events.

Skylar Rogan, Adee Weller, Morgan Rulevich and Madison Rogan all won at least one event in the dual meet versus the Eagles. Rulevich won three events (50 free style, 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke), while Madison Rogan and Skylar Rogan each claimed first-place honors in two events.

To conclude the two-meet road swing Asheville won its first dual meet of the season with a 20-point victory over the Ospreys.

Rulevich continued her success on the road, as the senior won four events (50 free, 200 breast, 200 medley relay and 400 free relay). Madison Rogan claimed three individual victories for the Bulldogs, while her twin sister Skylar Rogan won two individual events.

After winning seven events last week Rulevich won the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Female Swimmer of the Week award on Wednesday. It was the second time in her career she has won the weekly honor.

About the Meet

The tri-meet will be the first of its kind this season for UNC Asheville. Last year the Bulldogs participated in a tri-meet at Liberty by squaring off with Marshall and the Flames.

The meet on Saturday will begin at 1 p.m. and will be held in Davidson, N.C. in the Cannon Natatorium.

For the first time in program history, UNC Asheville will travel five of its divers to the meet with three of the five Bulldogs competing in the 1m diving event.

Last Time Out Versus Davidson

The last time the Bulldogs and Wildcats met in a pool was during the 2016-17 season. Davidson hosted UNC Asheville, Queens and George Washington in the Cannon Natatorium.

At the meet two seasons ago Weller and Skylar Rogan went fourth and fifth in the 500 freestyle. Recent UNC Asheville graduate Alejandra Sanchez Garcia posted fourth-place points in the 200 backstroke, and Rulevich finished fourth in the 200 breaststroke.

Last Time Out Versus VMI

The two clubs squared off during the 2015-16 season, and the Bulldogs claimed the head-to-head victory in the Justice Center Pool, 108-72.
