Morgan Rulevich copied Madison Rogan in the next event, the 50 freestyle, as Rulevich placed first in the event. Lily Sullivan finished third with a 2:29.66, which gave Asheville three team points in the same event.

Despite the sweep in the 400 IM and narrowing the margin to three points, the Bulldogs finished second in the final event (200 free relay), while Campbell won and finished third in the event. The 13 points in the final event for the Camels sealed the 12-point win (137-125).
Quotables
This meet really came down to the wire. Take us through the mentality of the team facing a tough Campbell squad.
Head Swimming & Diving Coach Elizabeth Lykins: "One of the most exciting parts about scoring these points was it came against one of the toughest Campbell programs we've faced. Not only are we proud of how we raced, we are also proud of how tough the competition was. It was really exciting to have our swimmers really step up."
With this being a CCSA meet, how does that set the team up for future conference meets this season?
Lykins: "We get really excited for conference foes, but when we face a conference rival, we always want to compete hard and put our best foot forward. I think this result really makes a mark on the conference as a whole and shows everyone in the league what we're capable of. Today we didn't swim everyone, so to know that we have more firepower in the tank is an assurance for the rest of the year."
Can you talk about the resiliency of this squad, especially late in meets?
Lykins: "We have some events where we aren't strong, so we know when those events happen the score will fluctuate. Despite us losing an event, we have the mentality to know we are going to do better in another event and level the field. To have Campbell sweep an event was a real punch in the gut, but to have Morgan (Rulevich) come back and win the 100 breaststroke and then the 50 freestyle really put us in better shape to make it a tighter race to the end."
What's Next
UNC Asheville returns to action with a two-meet road trip. Kicking off the road swing is a dual meet versus Georgia Southern on Friday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. To conclude the stretch, Asheville travels to Jacksonville, Fla. to go head-to-head with North Florida on Saturday Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.
