CHARLOTTE – Announced by the Big South Conference on Monday afternoon, senior center Bronaza Fitzgerald was tabbed the league's Player of the Week after posting a pair of single-game career highs this past week.

Currently on a three-game double-double stretch, the senior averaged a double-double this past week with 18 points and 13.5 rebounds. She tallied 27 rebounds including 11 offensive boards. Fitzgerald averages 4.0 offensive rebounds this season which ranks first in the Big South and 16th in the NCAA. In the 1-1 week for the Bulldogs, the Danville, Va. native made 15 baskets in 25 attempts in 58 total minutes.

In the narrow 2-point loss to Presbyterian on Jan. 27, Fitzgerald posted single-game career highs in points (23) and field goals made (10). She grabbed 16 rebounds which was one shy of matching a career high that she set on Jan. 20 at Winthrop.

In the game versus the Blue Hose, Fitzgerald corralled 16 rebounds which put her over 600 rebounds in her career (602). She is the 11th Bulldog to achieve this career mark.

The last time a Bulldog won the Big South Player of the Week was on Jan. 21, 2016 when Tianna Knuckles combined for 32 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and a block in the undefeated week against UNCG and Western Carolina.

Fitzgerald and the Bulldogs return to the hardwood on Tuesday, Jan. 30 as they travel to Boiling Springs, N.C. to square off with in-state and conference rival Gardner-Webb at 7 p.m.
