Visit From Interim Chancellor Dr. Joseph Urgo Highlights Latest BAA Board Meeting

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Bulldog Athletic Association Board meets monthly to help the UNC Asheville athletics department in a variety of ways in "The Pursuit of Champions and Leaders."
At the latest BAA Board meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 9, UNC Asheville Interim Chancellor Dr. Joseph Urgo and his wife, Lesley, attended.
Dr. Urgo spoke with the BAA Board about the university's strategic plan, offered his perspectives on the importance of a liberal arts education and access to education, and answered questions from the group.
In addition, Dr. Urgo discussed his passion for athletics and put that passion on display later in the evening during the UNC Asheville men's basketball Big South Conference win over Longwood at Kimmel Arena (90-80).
"We are so thankful that the Urgos were able to make it to our first BAA Board Meeting of the 2018 year," UNC Asheville Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone said. "UNC Asheville is in great hands over the coming months under Dr. Urgo's guidance in his new role. I look forward to everyone getting to know him better during UNC Asheville athletic events as he cheers on his beloved Bulldogs."
