ASHEVILLE, N.C. – After putting together an impressive run in 2017, the UNC Asheville baseball team is back in full swing as the Bulldogs opened their fall practices on Friday night at Greenwood Field.
The Bulldogs opened their first fall practice with base-running and defensive drills, batting practice and an innersquad scrimmage. Baseball will host between 18-20 scrimmages throughout the fall, depending on weather, to prepare for the upcoming 2018 season.
UNC Asheville returns 20 players from last year and welcome 10 new players to the squad.
Asheville finished the 2017 season making a run into the semifinal round of the Big South Conference Championship, which was a feat that had not been accomplished since 2007. With their 25-win season last year, it marked the sixth-most wins in program history and the most since the 2004 team won 26 games.
