CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the first time in her career, UNC Asheville women's soccer midfielder Courtney Naber earned Big South Conference Attacking Player of the Week honors after her two-goal performance on Sunday in the Bulldogs' home opener at Greenwood Field.
The senior from Loveland, Ohio led the Bulldogs to a 3-2 comeback, overtime thriller in the 2017 home opener. Asheville was down 2-0 in the 76th minute to Wofford, and Naber cut the deficit in half as she redirected Emma Houser's shot on goal. With four minutes remaining in regulation, Alison Kurucz tied the game and forced the first overtime period this season for both clubs.
It didn't take long for Naber to win the game for her squad as she drilled the game-winner in the 94th minute. Taylor Barber forced a turnover near midfield, and she fed a pass up to Naber. From 25 yards out from goal, Naber scored the game-winner in the top left-hand corner of the Wofford net.
