Bulldogs Put Together Strong First Day at Yellow Jacket Invite

THE MEET
Yellow Jacket Invite
Location: George C. Griffin Track / Atlanta, Ga.

ATLANTA, Ga.—The UNC Asheville men and women's track and field team concluded the Yellow Jacket Invitational Friday afternoon at the George C. Griffin Track.
Asheville had a top five finish in the women's 4X1000 meter relays with Kayli Nichols, Argia Gibson, Desire Brown and Jasmine Cox finishing with a time of 48.09. The men's team of Chris McKoy, Matthew Harding, Kimani Anderson and Tyree McFalling also placed fifth in their side of the event with a time of 43.75.
Patrick Johnston placed sixth in the men's 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.67.
In the men's 400 meter dash, McFalling placed 19th, finishing in 50.66 seconds. McFalling also finished 22nd in the men's 200 meter dash, with a time of 22.98.
Gibson had a top-25 finish in the 100 meter dash, finishing in 12.68 seconds. Kamryn DeCarmo had a top-15 finish in the women's 800 meter run, finishing in 2:25.12.
Harding continued to show his stuff when he placed first in the men's 800 meter run with the top time of 1:52.60.
In the men's 400 meter hurdles, Johnston placed seventh, with a time of 58.64.
In the following event, the women's 200 meter dash, Brown (25.81) had a top-30 finish. Amy Castle (18:24.72) had another top-30 finish in the women's 5000 meter run.

FIRST PLACE FINISH: Matthew Harding followed his stellar performances at the Big South Indoor Championship when he took first in the men's 800 meter run today.
ABOUT THE TRACK: The George C. Griffin Track is 400m with a Mondo surface. There are eight 42" lanes. LI, TJ, JT, HJ and PV approaches are Mondo. SP, HT, and DT circles are concrete.

TEAMS COMPETING: Twelve schools have registered for the meet this weekend including: Asheville (M/W), Belmont (M/W), Florida State (M/W), Franklin Pierce (M/W), Georgia (M/W), Georgia State (W), Georgia Tech (M/W), Louisville (M/W), Mercer (W), Middle Tennessee State (M/W), Pittsburgh (M/W) and Vanderbilt (W).
UP NEXT: Following this weekend's competition, the Bulldog men and women will head to Columbia, S.C. to compete in the Weems Baskin Relays. The meet will be hosted by the University of South Carolina on March 24-25.
