ASHEVILLE, N.C.— The UNC Asheville men's tennis team will begin a three-match road swing when they travel just down the road to Spartanburg, S.C. to face the Wofford Terriers, this Monday, Feb. 27, beginning at 2 p.m.
BULLDOG BITES
PATTEN CONTINUES TO IMPRESS: Sophomore Henry Patten has started the season with some very impressive performances, earning himself the Big South Men's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played Jan. 23-29. Patten topped the No. 102 ranked singles player at the time, Scott Webster of Appalachian State, earlier this season. Patten also defeated the No. 66 ranked singles player at the time, Eduardo Mena of Tennessee Tech. The native of the U.K. is now 8-0 in singles play on the year, winning every match in straight sets. Alongside Josh Swindler, the No. 1 doubles pairing is 7-1 on the season.Â
CLEAN SWEEPS: The Bulldogs pulled off yet another 7-0 sweep against King University earlier this month. In addition to the win over the Tornado, Asheville has also swept Mount Olive, Lenoir-Rhyne and Mars Hill this season.
SCOUTING WOFFORD: The Terriers have had a stellar start to their 2017 campaign, starting off 8-4 overall, with an impressive 7-1 home record. Wofford and Asheville share common opponents in King University and Appalachian State. Both teams swept the Tornado of King University, 7-0. The two teams also dropped their match against Appalachian State. Wofford has already faced off with two Big South opponents this season, topping both Gardner-Webb and Winthrop.UP NEXT: Following the match on Monday, the Bulldogs will continue their road swing when they travel to Charlotte, N.C. to face Charlotte on Friday, March 3, beginning at 2 p.m.
