11.07.2017 | Women's Volleyball

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Five Bulldogs collected double-digit digs as the UNC Asheville volleyball team secured a 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-19) win over Presbyterian College at the Justice Center on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Presbyterian College (8-22, 4-11 Big South Conference) picked up the win in the opening set, but it would pretty much be all UNC Asheville (12-14, 8-7 Big South Conference) the rest of the way.

UNC Asheville was led in the match by Big South Player of the Year candidate Cara Guthrie, who closed out her efforts with 20 kills and 15 digs.

Ava Venema was the only other Bulldog with double-digit kills with 11 kills. She also had five digs and five blocks.

Quotable
"It was a huge win. Obviously, PC had a lot on their shoulders because they had a chance to get in the Big South Tournament, and that's what you saw in the first set in a really big run by them and we were taken back a little bit. I think once we got into the rhythm of the game, especially in the second set, I think after that we were just playing our game. It's a huge win and it's good momentum going into Liberty where will be playing them here at home and also it continues getting us ready for the tournament." – Head Coach Frederico Santos

Up Next
UNC Asheville will close out the regular season by hosting Liberty at the Justice Center at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9.
