ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's soccer closed out its 2017 season positively with a 2-2 double overtime tie with Presbyterian College at Greenwood Field on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

The Bulldogs (2-15-1, 1-6-1 Big South Conference) scored first in the contest in the 19th-minute when Joe LaCasto laced a shot into the lower left corner. LaCasto's team-leading second goal of the year was assisted by Brendan O'Dowd.

The score would remain 1-0 until the 70th-minute when Clement Vannier of Presbyterian College scored his fifth goal of the year off an assist from Garrett Glaze.

The 1-1 tie would last 10 minutes before Brandon Millington rifled a shot in the lower right corner of the net for a 2-1 UNC Asheville lead. Millington's first goal of the year was assisted by Kyle Adams and Andrew Lawrence.

The Blue Hose would find the equalizer in the 86th-minute when Andrew Miller-Bell rebounded a shot into the back of the net. He was assisted by Mathias Mikalsen.

The Bulldogs would have the much better of the chances in the overtime periods, but the two teams would end the evening tied at 2-2.

UNC Asheville goalkeeper Dakotah Bainter played strongly between the pipes for the Bulldogs in the match. He ended the match with eight saves.

Presbyterian College (5-8-3, 3-3-2 Big South Conference) held a narrow 24-23 advantage overall in shots in the match, but the Bulldogs held a commanding 10-5 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Quotable
"I say this with a little bit of a wry smile, but that's kind of our season where we do so many good things and then it just comes down to those little moments. One thing I will say about this group is that this group through the whole year could have put their head down, could have stopped playing hard, could have stopped trying to do the right things, could have stopped minding the details and they didn't do that. That says a lot about them and their character. I'm really pleased for them in the way that they played tonight. I'm not pleased in the result. I think, quite honestly, anybody that watched the game, we were the better team. For PC, that's a point won for them, and we wish them the best of luck in the Big South Tournament, but we were the better side tonight." – Head Coach Mathes Mennell
