CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville cross country teams opened their 2016 season at the Western Carolina Invitational in Cullowhee, N.C.
The men's team took first place overall with a combined time of 1:20:12.55, an average of 16:02.51. They finished just ahead of Western Carolina who produced a combined time of 1:20:44.47, an average of 16:08.90.
The women finished fourth overall, with an average time of 12:28.04. College of Charleston took first place with an average time of 11:42.88.

NOTABLES
-Redshirt junior Dominic Collichio finished first overall in a field of 69 runners with a time of 15:39.21, he was two seconds ahead of the field.
-The highest finisher on the women's side was senior, Sarah Heisner in 13th in a field of 70 runners with a time of 12:16.55.

"Pretty happy with the races today. Super proud of the men's team winning the team title and Dominic winning the individual title. Both teams raced well as a team which was the main focus for this week since we are coming off a high training block right now.
