ASHEVILLE, N.C.- The UNC Asheville women's soccer team surrendered Wednesday's match to conference foe, Radford University 2-1.
Radford was first on the board with a long serve from Emily Dunn for Jasmine Casarez to head in the upper left corner of the goal in the 68th minute.
That wasn't the last time the crowd heard Casarez's name. She scored her second goal in the 72nd minute with assist from Jessica Wollman.
The Bulldogs made a push late with Caroline Houser scoring in the 88th minute with assists from Emma Houser and Katie Tuorto.
NOTABLES:
- Goalkeeper Keller Dixon had total of eight saves during the game.
- Courtney Naber took most shots for the Bulldogs, four total with two on goal.
- Bulldogs had 17 shots total to Radford's 12.
QUOTABLES
"I thought we played well tonight. We gave up a really soft first goal and you could feel the wind go out of the sail for a 10 minute period. We need to be better about having a response after we give up goals, those are critical moments to remind each other that we are still in the hunt. I was pleased with our attacking shape and ball movement. Radford had a good second goal that came 5 minutes after the first. We have to be more mentally aware, especially after we give up one goal. We have to make teams earn the goals they score against us in order to give ourselves every opportunity to remain in the fight."
