ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville begins a four-game road trip to end the regular season on Tuesday afternoon when the Bulldogs travel to take on Tennessee Tech in Cookeville. The game comes following a five-game homestand to end Asheville's Greenwood Field schedule, while Tennessee Tech returns home following a four-game road trip of its own.
NOTABLES
Guy Streaking: Pete Guy's single in the bottom of the third inning on Sunday pushed his on-base streak to 35 consecutive games – marking a new program record and passing former Bulldog Hunter Bryant's 34-game mark set last season. Guy has started all 50 Asheville games this season.
The Walkman is Broken: Pete Guy did not record a walk in any of the Bulldogs' five games last week, just the second time all season he's gone consecutive games without a walk (other – Feb. 20/21 Ohio, Feb. 26 Monmouth). Guy enters the week sixth in the country in total base on balls with 52 (seven back of the national leaders) and is also sixth in the country in base on balls per game average (1.04 per), just behind the national leader (Zack Collins, Miami (FL) – 1.21 per). He also sits in third nationally in total times hit by pitch (19).
Free Baseball: The Bulldogs have had no issues playing extra innings this season, compiling a 3-1 record in extra innings. Two of the three extended wins have come at home (vs. N.C. Central and ETSU, while Asheville also won at BSC opponent Charleston Southern.
The Key to Success: The Bulldogs have tallied six or more runs in 15 of their 16 wins this season, while they are just 1-26 when scoring five or less runs per game.
Looking at the Opponent: Tennessee Tech features six players hitting .300 or better this season, and four players with over 35 runs batted in. The Golden Eagles are 15-10 at home this season.
