Patten Receives Back-to-Back Freshman of the Week Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –UNC Asheville Men's Tennis player, Henry Patten has been named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week for the second week in a row, the conference announced this morning.

 

Patten continues to provide a point of stability for the Bulldogs, adding another perfect week of play for Asheville this past week. He improved his team-best singles record to 12-4, including a current seven match win-streak. The freshman also enjoyed success on the doubles court, adding two victories to his team-high 13 wins with his partner, Josh Swindler.

 

In singles action, Patten has made his presence known in flight two for the Bulldogs, stringing together seven straight wins including two victories over Winthrop and Longwood this week. Patten defeated Diego Quiroz (6-4, 6-2) in the Bulldogs' Friday win over Winthrop, and Florian Uffer of Longwood on Saturday in straight sets (6-2, 6-3) to improve to an overall record of 12-4.

 

Patten and his doubles partner Josh Swindler came up with two wins (6-2 WU, 6-0 LWD) to improve to an overall record of 13-3 and extend their win-streak in doubles play to nine. The pair remain undefeated in BSC doubles play this season.

 

Patten and the Bulldogs are 9-7 on the season, and 5-2 in conference play, ranking them third overall in the Big South Conference. Asheville's next match will be this Sunday April 10, at 12:00 p.m. when the Bulldogs travel to Radford University to take on the Highlanders in their final regular season match of the year.
